Welcome And Why You Feel Stuck
SPEAKER_01Well, hello, friends. This is Kimberly. It's episode 348. And I am so glad that you're here today because we're talking about what to do when you feel stuck in your business. Maybe you feel like there's a roadblock, there's a bottleneck, there's just something holding you back. You can't move forward. Maybe there's certain things you want to do or you're trying to do, and you just feel stalled and stuck. Well, today, this episode is for you. I'm going to help you identify what the problem actually is so that you can start moving forward with your business dream, whatever it is, whether you're starting, whether you're trying to start something new in your business, whatever it may be. Naming The Resistance Holding You
SPEAKER_01You're at a roadblock, you're stuck, you can feel your wheels just spinning and you're not going anywhere. I don't know what it is for you. Maybe it's you're working on website design. Maybe you're working on actually deciding on a business idea. Maybe you're working on starting something new in your business, a new wine, a new offering. Maybe you, you know, are working on financials for your taxes or your bookkeeping. And you just feel yourself overwhelmed with all the things of that. And it's taking away time from the things that you actually wish you could be doing. Today we're going to talk about this because you have to be able to have discernment on what to do when this happens again. The truth is, this happens to all business owners. All of us go through this. In fact, today and over the past few days, this has been happening to me. And I had to like give myself my own coaching session today. And now I'm sharing it with you. I thought, oh, what a perfect episode because everyone goes through this. I know that I'm not the only one. Okay. I know I'm not the only one. So this is what has been happening to me. There is something new that I've been really excited to start for this business. Okay. That will make money, that will help people like you so much. I think. I really do. I'm I'm in the middle of like finishing up research and kind of starting it, but it's going to take a long time to get going, like months and months and months. So I can't really announce it yet because if it for some reason doesn't come to fruition, but it's something that I'm working on, right? And I'm super excited about it. And what I found myself doing, I was supposed to be working up here in this office. And I've been telling myself for months, like, you need to do more video. You need to be on video more. Maybe you can make some clips. Maybe you can record your podcast episodes and then make clips from those, but have them on video. Cause right now I just do audio. Um, maybe do some more Instagram videos. And I keep feeling resistance to this. Now let me say this first of all. I am not knocking video. I think video is very important in today's world. It's important. But I have to tell you, I feel like right now in my business, my podcast is the win. It is the win. This is how people find me. It is easy for me. I can show up up here any time of day. I love it. I love the sound of audio. I love putting these headphones on, and I love it. I love audiobooks. It's like, it's like people who love to read a book versus watch the movie. They love to go in a corner. They love the, you know, to snuggle up to a book, sit outside or whatever. I don't know if you're an avid book reader. You know that feeling? That's how I feel with podcasting. And I love the sound of DJ's voices and audiobooks and all that, right? This is easy for me. It doesn't take me that much time. It makes a huge difference for listeners like you who pay attention and are listening. And because you tell me, that's how I know. And it's fun. And I feel like this is one of my skills, right? I'm not the best, but I think I'm decent at this, right? Getting on video, I actually feel like I'm decent at that. But the resistance that I'm feeling on a daily basis, because every day I feel it on my shoulders, like I need to be doing more video. I need to be doing this. I know how important it is. It's very important in today's world for marketing, right? I feel resistance. Today I want you to acknowledge what you're feeling resistant to. Because that's what's holding you back. It's that feeling, that tension. Do you have something in your business right now that you know you should be working on, but you're not? Or you are working on it and you want to throw your computer against the wall, or you want to just scream maybe it's a new product offering, a new service offering, maybe it's great design in your website. I don't know what it is for you. But we have to stop for a minute when we feel stuck and we say that we're stalled and we feel a bottleneck and we can't move forward. We have to identify that resistance. So I ask you, what is that resistance that you may be feeling right now? I want you to name it. What is it? For me, it's creating video and doing this stuff because I think that that's what I should be doing. What do you think that you should be doing right now? Name it. What is it? Need to be working on this or doing this. Today we're gonna have discernment. And I want you to use this method here because I think it will help you for whenever you feel stuck again, because all of us feel stuck, all of us feel bottlenecked. We all get frustrated. And I want you to work through this with me right now so that you'll remember it. And you can use it when this happens to you again. Okay.
Mission Critical Or Let It Go
SPEAKER_01Number one, this is what I want you to do. When you feel frustrated, you're about to scream, or you can't move forward, you're not having time to do the things that you really want to do in your business. I want you to first sit down, close the door, or go outside and breathe in and breathe out. Breathe in and breathe out and tell yourself my business gets to be built my way. My business gets to be built my way. And then say this I don't have to do all the things that the world is telling me I have to do in my business to be successful. I don't have to do all the things that the world is telling me to do to be successful. You don't. You do you do not. And the minute you say that, and then you affirm that like I also have things that I want to do that sound very exciting in my business that I would rather be doing, it makes you feel good. And think I do get to use my gifts in my business. I get to create the things that I want to create. We're flipping the script. We're going from feeling the pressure of what the world and all online coaches and what everyone is trying to sell. And I'm part of it, right? Because I'm trying to sell a solution as well. I'm trying to sell simplicity and purpose and helping others. And yes, I have coaching and I believe in strategies, but I think there's so many gurus and everyone out there, like, you need to be on YouTube, you need to do a podcast. And I'm an advocate for podcasting, right? So I'm lumping myself in here. We're all kind of selling something. But you have to be discerning and go, what is it that I actually want to be doing that lights me up? I don't have to bear this burden of what the world is telling me that I need to be doing in my business. And I can be doing it my way. And I can be using my creative mind and the gifts that God has given me to build a business in a way that is fun for me, that allows me to make a difference and that makes money. That's fun for me, allows me to make a difference and makes money. That's what we're doing. And when you get excited, when you sit there and like literally like are thinking about all the fun things that you'd love to start in your business or do or offer or helping people brings you joy, you can feel it. You will start smiling. I'm smiling right now, just thinking about you smiling, about your business and how much better it feels. Releases those feel-good hormones, right? And you feel good. You can feel it in your stomach. You sit up a little straighter, your shoulders kind of go back, and you're like energized. So you have to ask yourself, what are these things that I'm feeling resistance to do that I don't want to do, that I actually don't want to do? Okay. And then when you name it, when you say the thing that's holding you, that you feel tension, that you feel resistance to, right? Is it doing your taxes? Is it designing in Canva, creating a website? Like, what is it? You have to ask yourself, number one, is this mission critical for my business? Do I, do I need to have this? Like if it's doing your taxes, you you do need to have that, right? If you need to get a website up, you do need to get a website up. But realize that you can outsource it. I know this is not some earth-shattering statement, but you would be shocked at how many business owners I talk to that are super frustrated by something. And I'm like, do you know that there's people out in the world that love to do the thing that you're frustrated with and can do it for you quickly? Right? Like I think about my daughter Lexi. She works on spreadsheets all day. She does like analyzing data and putting reports together, and actually, I don't even know all this stuff, but it's spreadsheets and she loves it. Can you imagine that? Someone loves spreadsheets. Okay. She loves it. She's getting paid to do it and she loves it. What is it that you are feeling tension with and resistance to and realize that you can get help. You can outsource. You can pick up the phone right now. You can text somebody, you can text a friend, you can find your local, you know, business groups. I know somebody you know has a business. You can find out who they use. You can ask family members, you can, if you're a member of the Chamber of Commerce, you can ask them in your area, you can find out local people to help you or online. There's Fiverr, there's Upwork, people can help you with the things that you need help with. I would get on that stat. Stat get someone to help you and get this off your plate because it's wasting your time and energy and money. And I talk about this a lot, but I'm telling you again, this is part of the process that you have to put yourself through when you find yourself stuck. You first realize that your business gets to be your way and you take a deep breath and you get excited for the things that you want to do. Then you ask yourself, the places where I feel tension, are they mission critical? If they are, I need to outsource them now. Now, if they are not mission critical, so this is what happened
Outsourcing Fast To Clear Bottlenecks
SPEAKER_01to me today. Realizing again, beating myself up that I haven't been on video more and I'm not doing all the things that I was gonna do with video, I've realized, do I want to have my business be a big video empire at this time? And I don't I like video, I actually love being on video, but the preparing for it is dragging me down, and it's causing me angst and it's very frustrating. And I'm like, what am I doing? I have a successful podcast, I can stick with audio, which I love, and still get the same message across you'll see what I'm saying? When I realize that what's giving me angst is not actually mission critical, it is not something that I have to be doing right now. I can let it go. I can let it go. I can say, okay, you know what? Let's put that as a fun to have more video, and I can do that later, if and when I feel super inspired to do all that, and I'm ready to deal with all the hullabaloo of me putting on makeup and doing all this stuff. It shouldn't be that difficult. But for me, getting ready and prepping and making sure everything is perfect is starting to drive me a little crazy. And so I know I tell y'all not to do things to be perfect, but I'm just realizing I don't actually want to do it. I don't actually want to be doing that today. I want to be working on this other new angle that could help people and bring in revenue and is actually really exciting me. And so I'm giving myself permission to not do the video and start working on this other angle with my business that I'm super excited about. Right? You have to discern is it mission critical or not? If it's mission critical, you hire out. If it's not mission critical, can you just let it go? Because that's what I did today. And I said, okay, I'm gonna work on the thing that's exciting me. And now I'm just gonna record my podcast. I'm not gonna beat myself up that I'm not recording video and all that stuff. It's an amazing feeling. You will feel free. This is how you get past the things. Because now, tomorrow, when I get up, I don't have to beat myself up. I don't have to have those internal voices saying, you're doing video, you should be on video. Oh my gosh, why can't you just get ready? And why are you wasting time doing this other thing? When I realize I'm not wasting time doing this other thing, it's actually something that can be really cool and help a lot of people. And I don't have to worry about video right now. It can be a fun to have. And maybe in six months I'll change my mind. And maybe in six months you'll change your mind too. Is this making sense to y'all? I just thought there has to be other people out there like me right now, right? And and you will get stuck. You will get stuck in the beginning of your business, in your idea stage, starting, pivoting, uh, new offerings, new ways to sell your stuff online, in person. And when it's feeling heavy, ask yourself, is it mission critical? And if it's not, then maybe you let it go right now. And that's what I'm doing. And that's how I'm moving on. And I'm very excited and I feel a lot lighter and I'm happier. So I'm not gonna beat myself up tomorrow when I wake up. Y'all, I hope you use this philosophy, this little process here. The next time you get stuck and give yourself this freedom and stop feeling that burden that you have to build your business like the world wants you to build it. You can do it your way. And that's what brings me so much joy. Because when I do see y'all on Instagram or I have clients that I'm talking to, I'm like amazed at the gifts that God has given you. And when you do them, when
Dropping Video Pressure And Refocusing
SPEAKER_01you get to use them and run your business your way, you all light up. When I see you, you are lit up, you are happy, you are in your zone, and that's how it should be because that's how you're gonna build a successful business. You're not gonna build one by feeling pressure and doing things that you don't feel comfortable doing. Is that right? I mean, we would tell our children that are in junior high or high school like, stop hanging around the people that don't make you feel good. And when you get around other people and you feel easy and you don't have to work hard and they're your friends because they're your genuinely your friends, isn't that a better feeling? It's the same with our business. We just have to tell ourselves this. And that can be the hardest thing to do. But I'm so happy for you. I'm excited for you because I want you to feel free today. I want you to feel excited. And if things are mission critical that you're having a hard time with, if you're pulling your hair out over something, hire out immediately.
