Hi friends, this is Kimberly. It's episode 327. I'm so happy you're here today. Whether you're an aspiring business owner, whether you're starting right now or you're growing your business, welcome. I'm so happy that you're here. And if you're looking to start a podcast, you are in the right place too. So welcome everyone to you. Are we excited or what? This is like unofficially, officially, I don't know what you want to say. This is like a really fun time that I'm mentally embarking on season two of this podcast. So if you've been with me a long time, season one has been all about business, turning your passion into a business, making money, doing what you love, using your God-given gifts for greater. Well, here's the thing season two is the same mission. Oh, yes, we're on a mission to take what we know can be used for greater and actually go for it. And that's what I wanted to talk about today is that season two, even though it is the same topics, my dream is to expand it even a little more, like our conversations to stretch beyond business. Because I truly believe that the foundations of business can be translated to life and things that we want to accomplish. I think it's this really cool parallel. Now it's not the exact same. I'm not saying in life you need to, you know, have a lead magnet and build an email list. I'm not saying that, but I'm saying these like core tenets, these like pillars of of what it takes to start a business translate into all areas of your life. So I just wanted to kick this, if you will, season two off with three things that I know and learn from season one that you can apply for all areas of your life. Okay. Anything that you want to do, a new endeavor, you want to start something new, you want to make meaningful change, and here it is. I'm gonna cut to the chase. This is season two, we're kicking this off, and I'm so excited. So the first thing that we've learned from business ownership is that number one, you need to name what you want. What do you want out of your life? Like, have you ever really written that down? Have you written down, have you journaled it? Have you put it in your notes app? Have you said it out loud? Like, what do you really want? And are there things that you want to achieve, that you want to go for, maybe that you want to start soon? It could be that business, that podcast, that YouTube channel, that Substack page, that, you know, Instagram, you want to start doing videos, you want to start a new fitness plan, you want to get healthy, you want to, you know, start having better relationships, you want to study the Bible more, you want to develop friendships more. What is it? So I want you today to name what you want because I've learned that when we name it, we claim it, right? And we get moving. So name what you want. Again, that's a pillar we've talked about all in season one about business that now can apply to every part of your life. So name what you want and get specifics. That's number one. Okay. Number two, identify what is stopping you or what's been holding you back? Have you been saying it's not the right time? Have you been just scared that you're gonna do it and then you're not gonna succeed? You're gonna fail. Are you scared of what other people will think? Have you not gotten started because you are a perfectionist and you want it to be perfect? Like, what are the things that are stopping you that have been holding you back? I want you to think about it right now. Think about it for your business, maybe what has been stopping you. I know for me, nothing stopped me. I'm being very honest. When I was starting the business, I was like, when I started my very first one with a friend, nothing stopped us. We were like, let's start. We're just starting on the side. And the reason why nothing had to stop us is we weren't investing a ton of money when we got started, and we were gonna do it on our time. So there was no reason why we should not do it, right? So then when I started my online store and then my second online store, like there was no hesitation. It just was going. And then I started taking pictures. I had a portrait photography business that I did on the side while I was writing my online boutiques. Nothing stopped me. I just people were asking me to take pictures. And I was like, I guess I could start like a business officially. And I started and I just started taking more pictures. And then in this business here with the podcast and the coaching business, I had a whole lag time of like closing my online boutiques and going, what am I doing with the rest of my life? And like crying at my kitchen table. My clients have heard this story before, just like bawling. Like, what am I doing? I'm a smart person, I'm no genius, but like I have things that I can do for other people. I'm excited for helping people, but how do I use my gifts for greater, right? How do I do this? So I saw an ad that said you could start a podcast to maybe kickstart public speaking because I thought about doing public speaking and I was like, oh my gosh, that's it. Nothing was holding me back. You know what didn't hold me back? The looks of terror on the faces of my children when I told them that I was wanting to start a podcast and they looked at me like, what is this woman doing? That didn't even stop me. That did not stop me. I was gonna do it anyways. Um, the fact that I cringe at the sound of my own voice, that didn't stop me. It did not stop me. But let me just tell you this those are things you think about in the beginning. Like, really quick, what are those things that have maybe been holding you back? Okay. So again, number one, name what you want. Number two, identify what's stopping you. And number three, you take action anyways. You do it scared, you do it imperfectly, you do it in spite of what other people will think, you do it in spite of the fact that it will not be perfect, and you live with that. And you have to just go, and it's not going to be perfect. You do it anyways because you know God has given you gifts for greater and that you've had this yearning to start a business or whatever endeavor it is for you in your life, and you go for it anyways. Y'all, the things we learn in business can be applied to our real lives. So if you've been here for these past six years, get excited because everything you've learned, even if you have a business that ends up failing and that happens, or you just decide business is not for you and you just want to go back to a job, everything you've learned in the first six years of this podcast is applicable to your life. And so I'm so excited for season two because I believe that when we know what we want and we we just kind of acknowledge what's stopping us, but we do it anyways, we can achieve the things that we want in life no matter what it is. And I'm so excited you're here. Welcome to season two. This was just to just kick things off and say, let's go. I don't know exactly, you know, what is going to be different about the second season, but I feel it. I just feel this new era, I feel this new energy, online business and regular businesses, like like local business, everything. Everything's different than it was six years ago. And I just felt like a fresh haircut or like a makeover. And that's kind of what it is. I don't know if you'll notice. It's like our husbands notice. Sometimes I don't notice. One of my friends told me, by the way, that when she gets a new lipstick, like even if it's a little bit shade different or something, her husband notices. So two things about that. Number one, I don't wear lipstick, and I'm like, you wear lipstick? You wear lipstick. Okay. Number two, your husband notices that. Wow. My husband would just be like, hey, like, I don't think he would notice that. No, he would definitely notice if I got a new haircut. Um, but anyways, okay, my point is I feel refreshed. I hope you feel refreshed. Let's kick this off. Season two, it's gonna be fun. Again, we're talking about all things business that are relatable to today. And if I have a guest on that's talking about health or something else, we're gonna talk about that stuff and we're gonna talk about business. Okay. So I'm not gonna feel guilty for doing that and taking up time because I think we all are curious about things that we can learn that will better our lives in addition to business. So that's what I'm envisioning. I'm so excited, so happy you're here. Thank you for listening. If you ever have any questions or comments, you can email me, hi at Kimberleybrock.com.
